Halloween Spook-tacular

So while I was getting ready for the trick-or-treaters last night, I decided to finally take some pictures of the decorations I had up for the month of October. This is my first October/Halloween in 429 Spring, so I was starting from scratch. One of my favorite bloggers, Thrifty Decor Chick (www.thriftydecorchick.com), posted a great blog about the mice and bats she decorates with. With her pictures as inspiration (and a 50% off Martha Stewart crafts at Michael’s), I set off on my own attempt.

The bats were fun to hang our the living room at different points as “accents”. I’m a little worried to take them down because just yesterday I read about marks they leave behind, so that is something to look forward to… I didn’t have stairs to stick the mice to, so I decided to have them running up and down the halls. We thought for sure our cat would have paid some sort of attention to them, but apparently she’s not the hunting kind.
The spooky crow and sparkly pumpkins were HomeGoods pickups during one of their sales (so many cute things to choose from – will definitely be going back next year!) I also was able to pick up Martha Stewart spiders to hang in the front window – with the spiders and light-up pumpkin in the front window, it was just the right amount of Halloween to share with the rest of the world...
A lot of the miscellaneous fall items were (cheap) snags from our local Kirkland's Outlet. I loved Kirkland’s when it was in our mall, but since they moved out, I’ve been forced to use the outlet(cheaper prices on just as cute things, shucks…)
My one roommate and I made the pumpkins attached to the front door. That was a Pinterest project that we used for inspiration and had a lot of fun making it our own. The wreath is an oldy (but goody!) I made in college with my roommate at the time for our home in Louisville, KY.

My roommates & I have enjoyed getting in the spirit this fall and I’m definitely looking forward to adding to the collection next year! What’s your favorite way to decorate for Halloween? Do you have something you’re already planning on doing next year?
